Aggie gamedays are an electric experience not only for students, but for all Aggie parents, families, and friends. The Aggie Spirit is thick in the Kyle Field air. With the incredible energy and die-hard fan environment, Aggie gamedays are a must-have experience. However, the sheer size of Kyle Field and plethora of Aggie traditions can seem daunting to throw oneself into. There are many helpful tips that can help improve the gameday experience, and we are here to share them.

The Midnight Yell

First, we must start at the beginning, the very beginning. The night before the anticipated gameday. Midnight Yell. The first of many Aggie traditions kicking off the Spirited weekend. Midnight Yell is held in Kyle Field and led by the A&M Yell Leaders. This tradition pumps the Aggie fans full of pride and excitement for the game to come. The Yell Leaders guide the attendees through multiple yells that have been a part of A&M gamedays since the beginning of Aggie football. Tales are told of how A&M will defeat their opponents and claim their victory. Do not forget to bring a date; moments before dismissal, the lights flicker off, and Aggies give their Midnight Yell partners a smooch. This tradition sparks the flame of spirit that is burning throughout the gameday weekend and is the perfect place to learn yells and traditions.

Practical Tips and Information

Practical tips for the day largely include parking for the game, hydration, policy awareness, and participation.

Parking

We suggest taking the shuttles or buses to campus. The Maroon Rides app gives clear bus routes and times that help make the process of arriving on campus smooth. Plan in advance for the buses to be behind by leaving earlier than you believe you need to. There are few paid parking spots, but they must be reserved in advance.

Hydration

Hydration is key for any outdoor activity, but especially for A&M gamedays. For the students, they remain standing for the entire game (another A&M tradition, honoring the 12th man). Texas heat does not relent for the joyous occasion, and Kyle Field’s open architecture welcomes the blazing sun to join in the Aggie festivities. With all the yelling, excitement, and heat, hydration is a necessary element of your gameday success. A&M allows sealed and clear water bottles into the field.

Pro tip: Freeze your water bottle the night before so the water is ice cold during the game. If you forget your water bottle, no worries; the Memorial Student Center and Concession Stands have you covered.

Clear Bag Policy

Some other policies to be aware of are the clear bag policy. A&M holds a bag policy that requires bags over 4.5” by 6.5”, but not exceeding 12” by 12” must be clear. There can be small logos on the bag. Bags under 4.5” by 6.5” can be non-clear. We have attached a helpful guide in this post to assist you with all your bag-related questions. If all else fails, a one-gallon-sized clear plastic bag does the trick.

Large Bags

If fans are bringing bags to a home athletic event, bags must be clear and not exceed 12” by 6” by 12” or be a clear 1 gallon re-sealable plastic freezer storage bag, one per person.

Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and have a maximum of one logo imprint not exceeding 4.5” tall x 3.4” wide.

Branded

Clear tote, 12” x 12” x 6”, with a color logo imprint not exceeding 4.5” x 3.4”.

Texas A&M Branded

Clear tote, 12” x 12” x 6”, with an official Texas A&M logo imprint.

Clear

Plain clear tote, 12” x 12” x 6”, no logo required.

One Gallon Clear Resealable Plastic Storage Bag

Standard one gallon clear resealable freezer storage bag, one per person.

Small Bags

The only non-clear bags permitted are small clutch bags (with or without a strap) that are the size of a hand.

Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at designated areas.
